**Few TOTAL NEWBIE questions:** * Would it be better to run a VPN while running a node? What does running a VPN solve in terms of running your own node? * Connection to a Trezor remote node with VPN in order to send BTC to > MorphToken swap for monero > and to my Monero wallet run on my own Monero node with same VPN running in the background....and then back to bitcoin on trezor with same VPN turned on...does that setup look OK to you guys? what level of privacy would that provide me? * Just found out TOR can be connected. Eventually I'd like to use it, I thought TOR was only a browser. If I could learn the basics of setting up TOR in the future, I'm sure its probably way better than a VPN. \*\*\*\*\*\*This post has updated quantum calculations. Others have commented that miners would have to cooperate instead of compete to complete GNFS or else the biggest computer would always win. I am not sure if this is true or not, [I don't really think so based on this](https://willamette.edu/~mjaneba/rsa129.html), and [this](https://web.archive.org/web/20041231230220/http://listserv.nodak.edu/scripts/wa.exe?A2=ind9908&L=nmbrthry&P=1905), but I'm looking into it, please comment if you have more info. If it is true perhaps a way to solve it is a change to where Monero code enforces cooperation of groups no more than 1% of the total computing power or something to that effect. Even if this 1% rule wasn't enforced, people would join "teams" to win (pools) which wouldn't be muc... (read more)

I have been reading some of the (technology-approach) research on Monero, and I am very impressed. However, I was wondering if any of the big institutional research providers are publishing any research to institutional investors? If so, can you please refer me to the links.

Greetings all. I am really attempting to get involved in the Monero community because I like the idea of the privacy behind it. Right now, I operate a WordPress website with the following flow: A user registers. I add a unique XMR wallet address to his/her profile (I generate it in the gui wallet) User sends x XMR to the address in his/her profile. I upgrade his/her rank and s/he can access the content. The problem, in my opinion, in terms of privacy is the email requirement. Since this is WordPress, and the email is required on registration, this does not seem very private since the XMR wallet address would be linked to the email address found in the profile of the user. I found multiple ways to disable the email requirement upon registration. This is not something I have ev... (read more)

Hello together, my buddy and i will open a small webshop for smartphone cases with cryptocurrency prints. The cases can be printed with a public key QR code and thus be individualized. We would also like to add Monero. For every sold Monero themed case, we would like to donate 5% to Monero Research Lab/Developers. Although static qr-code adress usage is controversial discussed and not recommended, the case can be used for "pay me a coffee" transactions. The idea is to spread cryptocurrencies and get in touch with "nocoiners" about it. I would be interested if the community is interested in CrypotCases as a statement and attach some design ideas. I am looking forward to constructive feedback: [Monero \\"Universe\\"](https://preview.redd.it/f6hdy92115151.jpg?width=1600&format=p... (read more)

Hi All, We've seen a few posts and tweets lately talking about exchanging XMR to/from other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and others. So just a reminder, Cake Wallet on iOS and Android has 3 exchanges built-in that work with XMR, BTC, BCH, NANO, ETH, LTC, and others. The exchanges are XMR.TO, Changenow, and Morphtoken. The following is a video on how to work the exchange on Android: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aPICxtXDHk If you need one for iOS, please let us know. Thank you. I’m starting a self serving soft IceCream business and being deeply monerian, I’d love to call my machines a Monero IceCream with monero memes all around. The challenging part is how to accept monero by not spending additional thousands on each machine. The things I’d love see is loyalty discounts for monero only customers, nice/ergonomic GUI with product options and few payment options (cash coins, monero and probably bitcoin as well (with warning ⚠️ message about all the privacy risks). I’d love to hear your ideas and maybe someone can point me to the right direction about the interface, software and hardware with plenty of analog IOs to drive the thing?

Using them for a while, been 2 years or so. When I started to use them, they had just a few servers in Sweden, Spain, UK and US if I am not wrong. Now they starting to grow up, and adding new servers/locations. I paid them thru Bitcoin before, but just noticed that they accept Monero now! I'd like to share it with Monero community, [https://www.azirevpn.com/](https://www.azirevpn.com/)

I'm just concerned about messing something up somehow, like accidentally unaware I turned of... (read more)

(read more)

On r/btc and r/Bitcoin, you see this battle happening all the time. The battle between layer 2 solutions and on chain scaling. How are ways monero is scaling on l2, and what are ways it is scaling on chain? Can it do both?

(read more)

Monero (XMR) News & Social Mentions

I'm just concerned about messing something up somehow, like accidentally unaware I turned of... (read more)

(read more)

On r/btc and r/Bitcoin, you see this battle happening all the time. The battle between layer 2 solutions and on chain scaling. How are ways monero is scaling on l2, and what are ways it is scaling on chain? Can it do both?
