I haven't touched [SiaSetup.info](https://siasetup.info) for a while, so I figured it was time for an update. - Information on the Sia Skynet added, including how to use Skynet and a list of Skynet portals - Renting and other calculators fixed - price updates weren't working due to change in CoinMarketCap APIs, so USD storage prices show correctly again - Sia daemon updated to v1.4.8 for consensus packaging The Skynet portal list is manually maintained, so if you're aware of any new public portals, let me know. If you find any other inaccurate information on Skynet, let me know and I'll get it corrected. I haven't had a chance to play with it hands-on much yet. Further updates are planned to bring other Sia information up-to-date, and to update guides to Sia v1.4.0+, which I hope to ha... (read more)

Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I read the Official Sia Support and the wiki and didn't see this addressed. They show how to upload and backup files, but if every upload has to be done manually, that requires me to manually backup my files, which I don't trust myself to do. If I upload a folder, will Sia routinely check for updates to that folder and automatically back those up?

So there have been resources that have reported a rough $30/month per TB. That means that 100TB = $3000/month. My main concern in buying into a storage solution is the usage of the storage I am offering actually making SiaCoin. If I spent $3000 (100TB) of storage to rent, how long until my space gets used and I break even? Are there any experienced miners that could spare some info?

Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I read the Official Sia Support and the wiki and didn't see this addressed. They show how to upload and backup files, but if every upload has to be done manually, that requires me to manually backup my files, which I don't trust myself to do. If I upload a folder, will Sia routinely check for updates to that folder and automatically back those up?

So, I know that the future of currency is digital and I know Sia can play a huge role in that. Since everything is becoming digital, it makes sense that corporations, businesses, government and etc will host most of their files online; which Sia can offer with their cheap terabytes. I see a multitude of potential in the space because data is the new "oil", I'm just curious to know what else is new in the space. How long have others been investing?

Also, the search of unspent outputs of an address (previously slow for large addresses) is now out of beta and will work almost instantly even for addresses with thousands of transactions. This will be useful for developers and users of hardware wallets * Unconfirmed transactions improved tracking: addresses will show the unconfirmed balance and transactions when searching an address * CSV file downloads with the transaction history. ## Sia version 1.4.8 released The Sia team released the new software version 1.4.8. Its biggest hallmark is the new Renter Host Protocol (RHP), featuring the `SiaMux` network multiplexer, that will massively increase performance, parallelization, and will enable new features in the future. Every host will need to open and port-forward the port `9983` (in top of the old `9982`) to enable it. There has been also upgrades in the host selection process, contract renewals and contracts churn. Also, as a reminder, if you were using the old `SIA_DATA_DIR` environmental variable, it has been replaced by `SIAD_DATA_DIR`. ## Development progress The work this week has been focused on debugging issues found internally and reported by users for an upcoming new version: * PJ fixed a Skynet upload b...

Introducing Navigator version 2, the most advanced blockchain explorer for Sia, open source as the previous version: https://github.com/hakkane84/navigator-sia New features for final users: * Dashboard-style landing page. Auto-updated and animated * Search transaction outputs by their hash. Charts of the balance evolution for an address or batch of addresses... (read more)
